Over the years I've been asked
repeatedly to add sound-bites to the website. Which is to
say some form of digitally recorded representation of what a
Tempus (and, equally valuable, a Milestone) drum sounds
like.
Technology now makes it
possible to do exactly that - and it's been suggested quite
sensibly that, for example, I could present photos of kits
where, upon clicking on the image of the 10" tom tom,
you could hear a 10" tom tom over your computer
speakers... But I have a major phobia against the entire
notion - I'm not at all sure that the drums could be fairly
heard that way. So, I propose an alternative which, while
perhaps a tad more complicated and labour intensive, would
be a whole lot more honest...
I'm going to begin compiling
a list of albums on which both Milestone and Tempus kits
have been recorded. This could well run to hundreds of
titles, I know, but there are some extraordinarily fine
representations of my gear lurking around out there; I'd
much rather have you listen to those recordings - the
visions of a good many highly respectable players, engineers
and producers - than anything I could plug in to the site
for you.
And, indeed, this can still
be interactive. Almost.
There's a very strong
possibility that I don't know of all the recordings that
have featured these drums over the past twenty-eight years,
and it's also possible that I might inadvertently add a
title which, courtesy of my own ignorance, doesn't actually
contain my drums at all... so you're most welcome to offer
up titles which do and point out titles which don't feature
funny smelling Western Canadian plastic acoustic
membranophones.
That having been said, here's
the start of the (ever-expanding) list:
